Whenever somebody says “you’re going the wrong way!” Even if it’s someone in our own car or someone in a store, I use the drinking hand gesture and say “sure buddy, how do you know where we’re going!” …and laugh! It’s great for cracking yourself up!

  9. Chief Steps-In-Poo July 10, 2019 at 11:25 pm

Del-"Ahhh he's drunk. How would he know where we're going."

    (me too, again)

  13. Mark Grant July 13, 2019 at 10:36 am

Fantastic movie. I used to watch it again and again when I was like 12. Watched it a few months ago and it still has it's magic. All the cast are brilliant…but for me John Candys emotional performance steals the show.

  14. Catman Doo July 13, 2019 at 11:33 pm

Agent: May I see your rental agreement?
    Neal: I threw it away.
    Agent: Oh, boy.
    Neal: "Oh, boy" what?
    Agent: You're fucked.

One of my favorite movies. He missed the “Canadian mounted” book candy was reading at the airport. He was Canadian and his last movie was Canadian bacon.

  29. sorellman July 21, 2019 at 10:45 pm

In that scene there are actually 19 f—-k's. It appears they did not count hers (at least they do not show it in the clip):
Lady: May I see your rental agreement?
    Neil: I threw it away.
    Lady: Oh, boy …
    Neil: Oh boy, what?
    Lady: You're f—-ked.

  45. John C July 31, 2019 at 10:35 pm

    It's a Casio.

  49. Dark Shepherd August 9, 2019 at 8:11 am

I can't imagine what pop culture would have been without Hughes. That guy really left his mark, and it was an awesome mark.

  50. sonofwilliamchris August 13, 2019 at 2:32 pm

We'll never get these kind of actors and films again… Shame.

  51. peterah7957 August 13, 2019 at 3:44 pm

My favourite movie of all time

  52. blachubear August 14, 2019 at 9:03 am

Classic Hughes movie. Rest In Paradise John Hughes & John Candy.

  53. Donk Show August 14, 2019 at 8:47 pm

Ive watched this every thanksgiving for 30 years

  54. elvisleeboy August 15, 2019 at 3:12 pm

Inexcusable that they haven't released the full version.

  55. MarkDog August 16, 2019 at 5:46 pm

The f bomb scene ruined the movie. It's one of my favorite movies, excluding that scene. It would have been a family classic without it. Hollywood always forgets, R rated movies make less money then family movies. It limits who can watch. As an adult I also found that scene out of place in a heart warming comedy. I'm not offended by an f bomb, it just wasn't funny. Now on "Snakes on a Plane", the f bombs were hilarious.

  56. SliK August 18, 2019 at 12:11 am

    “Oh boy”

    -Oh boy what

    “You’re Fucked”

  57. Daniel Camarena August 18, 2019 at 5:30 am

I got a theory to that Easter egg.
They pulled a Spaceballs through out the shoot, they were watching the movie while it was now.. then.

  58. Dr. Modus August 19, 2019 at 3:40 pm

God this was a good movie I love watching this over and over again planes trains and automobiles is a timeless classic and it never gets old for me even uncle Buck man those were good to .

The power seat motor noise is actually the convertible top motor noise.

  61. OnceInABlueMoon August 26, 2019 at 10:11 am

This is one of my favorite films. Hughes' films were brilliant. RIP John Candy & John Hughes

  62. Rabid Raccoon September 3, 2019 at 7:39 pm

The best bit of that car rental scene is the punchline the rental lady throws back at him at the end. I won't ruin it for people who haven't seen it. xD

  63. cosimohankypants September 9, 2019 at 8:56 pm

Fk me that's some fkd up reasoning to elevate the rating of a fairly fkin timid film to over 18. The fk is wrong with America? Fk was my 3rd fkin word and Jesus is my fkin savour! Fkd if I know what tf America is doing over there!

  64. Gary Lee September 10, 2019 at 5:31 am

Planes Trains and Automobiles was an excellent movie and so was the jerk with Steve Martin in it

  65. quantumphaser September 14, 2019 at 11:49 am

Censorship is stupid and ruins the film.

Why do you bleep out the language when you clearly can hear it anyway, just ruins the scene at the airport rental car.

  66. Peter Fountotos September 17, 2019 at 8:27 pm

Has John Candy in it.. hmm…sounds good.

  67. C Y? September 17, 2019 at 9:25 pm

I've written some screenplays in the past. I can't even get an OUTLINE done in three days! 😳

  68. FULL BLOWN CRACKHEAD September 19, 2019 at 8:19 am

Every time you go, you take a piece of me

  69. erestube September 22, 2019 at 8:27 am

18 F-bombs and the lady at the counter responds with one of her own. 19. Maybe it was hers that gave it the R? You could kill 19 people and still get a PG rating. WTF?

  70. Chris Fisher September 23, 2019 at 7:32 pm

    Such a great movie

  71. Da Big Kahuna Catfish September 23, 2019 at 11:30 pm

l would love to see the 2hr version of the movie, who knows, maye someday they will release it. We can only hope.

  72. Katie Wenta September 28, 2019 at 8:46 pm

One of my all time faves.

  73. Kevin Watts October 4, 2019 at 12:02 pm

I live in New Zealand and didn't know about the PG Rating. Me thinks the Censors didn't watch the whole movie and missed this classic scene. One of my favs. Four fucking wheels and a seat!!! Brilliant.

  74. Late Apex October 8, 2019 at 6:36 am

    Damn I miss the 80's.

  75. Uncle Ruckus October 8, 2019 at 7:56 am

  76. Stuart Miller October 8, 2019 at 11:31 am

It's so nice to be able to read the comments section here and just laugh at all that crazy dialogue that everyone else so fondly remembers too. One of the best comedy films of all time.

    "You mean sh… sh…share?"

  77. full of holes October 8, 2019 at 2:42 pm

  78. Mike Oxlong October 15, 2019 at 12:32 am

  79. Nicholas Nietzsche October 16, 2019 at 7:52 am

John Candy John Candy John Candy. So sorely missed.

  80. Maiden Utah October 18, 2019 at 2:13 am

Edie McClurg looks like the mother in “Pink Floyd The Wall” (only a funnier version)

  81. Maiden Utah October 18, 2019 at 2:17 am

Did you catch that Bears game?

  82. Christopher Jones October 18, 2019 at 8:44 pm

Movies are no longer good like they used to be and loaded with empty morality. I haven't watched many new movies but have watched almost all movies 20 years old and earlier.

  83. The open floor October 19, 2019 at 8:34 am

not quite sure how or why but this kinda/sorta reminds me of "you dont know jack" lol no thats not a jab im actually referencing the game called you dont know jack

  84. Gaz Atkinson October 19, 2019 at 5:11 pm

Too many quotes to pick from

  85. Pluggit1953 October 20, 2019 at 10:26 am

Back when Steve Martin made good movies.

  86. limeyosu2000 October 21, 2019 at 7:36 pm

Try to make sure I watch this every thanksgiving! much better than all the Christmas crap they start running at that time.

  87. J.T. Hill October 21, 2019 at 11:40 pm

Imagine if we could watch that extra 1-1.5 hours of film they had for this movie….

  88. Adie October 22, 2019 at 1:13 pm

I wonder how many people missed the very end of the film…after the credits!?

  89. Dave Whitfield October 22, 2019 at 9:11 pm

There are certain movies I love to watch at certain times of year…Saving Private Ryan in June, Love Actually in December…and this gem every November. I laugh at the same places and then quietly try to swallow the lump in my throat when they both arrive at Neil's house. Simply brilliant!

  90. Anthony Harrison October 30, 2019 at 10:18 am

Grate movie and awesome actors Legends

  91. Sebastian Nock November 1, 2019 at 11:48 pm

Is there a single time since I was 6 I didn't this and cry at the end? No.

And yes, my parents let me watch an R rated movie at 6 because the 80's were awesome.

  92. Simon Everett November 3, 2019 at 5:52 pm

    John candy, sadly missed.

  93. J D November 4, 2019 at 6:12 am

Shower curtain guy. How about when he takes his socks off in the plane. Hilarious. I enjoyed all his characters. Well missed person, RIP.

  94. thewho311 November 7, 2019 at 3:00 pm

  96. Robert Demartin November 9, 2019 at 11:23 am

I would have given a thumbs up if you hadn't said "holiday" season.

  97. Christian Slater November 9, 2019 at 8:11 pm

Bullshit clickbait factoids about screenwriter John Hughes. 👎👎👎

    YouTube corporate account garbage.

  98. Jak Conrad November 10, 2019 at 4:37 pm

I'd watch the 3 plus hour cut. I'd watch the hell out of it. 🙂

  99. Chris Turgeon November 11, 2019 at 4:14 am

This movie has been a tradition for my family and I every year around Thanksgiving. One of the greatest films ever made. I can quote it the whole way through but it never gets old. I wish John Candy could have been with us a little longer but his memory lives on in the awesome films he did! It sure was a different world when these movies were made. Makes me wanna go back in time…

  100. Kate's Free November 11, 2019 at 6:17 am

Thing #6: John Candy is stupendous in this movie. Oh, wait, I already did know that.
