GoPro: Suction Cup Mount Tutorial

The suction cup mount allows for a more compact
mounting solution when shooting videos or photos. It’s easy to install and remove, and
is compatible with all GoPro cameras and housings. Proven to deliver stable shots at high speeds,
the Suction Cup Mount uses an industrial strength suction cup that attaches GoPro cameras to
cars, boats, motorcycles, and other fast-moving objects. The Suction Cup Mount has been totally
reengineered for maximum rigidity and stable image capture. The included short extension
arm allows for ultra compact mounting for tight spaces like cockpits and wheel wells,
while the long extension arm allows for more versatility and range of motion. The Suction Cup Mount kit includes the Suction
Cup Mount with pivot arm, an ultra-compact low-profile arm for when space is limited,
and a 90-degree bent arm for shooting vertically or horizontally. Installing the suction cup
takes just seconds, but to ensure proper suction, only attach the mount to surfaces that are
rigid, clean, dry, smooth, and non-textured. This mount is not for use with surfboards,
snowboards, or other high-impact sports. Place the suction cup flat on the surface,
depress the black button firmly, and pull back the lever to lock the suction in place.
To remove, unlock the lever, and pull up on the clear tab on the suction cup. The Suction
Cup Mount arms can be swapped out quickly by loosening and removing the thumb nut, sliding
in the arm, and replacing the thumb nut. The thumb nuts can be inserted on either side,
giving you options for how to set up the mount. The 90-degree bent arm can be used by itself,
or added to either the pivot arm, or the ultra-compact arm. To attach your GoPro camera to
any of the arms, side the camera housing into the suction cup mount arm, and insert the
camera mount thumbscrew, then fully tighten the thumbscrew, being careful not to over
tighten. To learn more, or get help with the suction cup mount, visit gopro.com/support.

  8. HensPie November 3, 2012 at 1:00 am

They've made an awesome suction cup mount but found out it would've been better if we could only "…". They make their products better, they add more USEFUL things you can actually use in different situations. They continue to amaze me ! I love (my) gopro

  9. HensPie November 3, 2012 at 1:00 am

    no

  10. kniefi November 3, 2012 at 1:38 am

as long as the wakeboard is on the gorund and not in use i guess so…but it`s rocker combined with the flexing of the board when riding will make it come off pretty quickly i assume! that is the reason why it is problematic to mount on snowbaords, skiers, waveboards etc…but holds on so strong on the hull of a boat, car or plane, sicne these surfaces do not tend to bend as much 😉 i guess a normal surf-board would also be possible…but without tethering it with a line i would not risk it!

  11. Craig Burden November 3, 2012 at 7:34 am

dude, like one of the first things said is that if is compatible with ALL GoPro models and housings. Every GoPro uses the same 2 leaf mounting system.

  21. Oliver Nolan January 13, 2013 at 7:25 pm

Can you attach this to a Penny Board, Skateboard, and Long Board?

  22. Justin Self January 23, 2013 at 7:38 am

I have had MANY problems with my new suction cup mount. The design was not made right, because it loses suction very easily. I had to revert back to using the old style.

  23. Kyle Iezzi January 24, 2013 at 3:32 am

I have flown a Cessna 172 and 182 with the suction cup attached. Make sure to clean the surface, and you are approved to speeds up to 200 mph. In some cases the airplane maybe too fast. In that case I would attach the adhesive mount to your plane and attach the GoPro that way.

  35. Kapper Official May 14, 2013 at 10:43 am

I´ll test it on a helmet, it works but only with one who had a straight place. It does not works with real motocross helmets.

    *A380

  43. Fabio Wmr July 23, 2013 at 12:49 am

only if your helmet is square

  44. GoProBro July 28, 2013 at 12:06 am

I am almost positive it's tested to 200mph. If your going to mount on an airplane I would recommend mounting it in a more secure fashion

  45. GoProBro July 28, 2013 at 12:08 am

Actually with a many helmets yes it does work! I did not have a curved 3M stick mount with me on a trip so I used the suction cup mount on my helmet. Just had to clean the helmet surface with some water and a cloth and it worked great. You can check on the video on my channel where I used it. Its the Dual RZR Jump video. I hope this helped.

  46. BaconStriiipz July 28, 2013 at 8:53 am

should make a utomatic version so you can change view whenever

  47. Shimon Oren August 31, 2013 at 9:34 pm

Technically it should work with slower moving airplanes, such as planes with a propellor etc'. Practically, I wouldn't take the chance, because if it falls of – It might be thrown at the engine and destroy it. I suppose the suction thing can be trusted, but not with your life.

  48. OB1KXB September 9, 2013 at 9:30 pm

any tips on how to easily remove from a surface? so far i've stuck it to a door and a wall (just to test the strength) and a car window. but i had to really work to get the suction cup to release so i'm very hesitant to put it onto the outside of my car because i know i'm going to scratch my paint when i'm trying to get the suction cup to come off

  49. fljuus September 12, 2013 at 8:56 am

lol @0:45 WHAT'S IN THE BOX?!

  50. Marci Kunze September 15, 2013 at 4:24 pm

why cant i use this on a surfboard?

  51. B Laviolette September 27, 2013 at 1:47 am

Marci, because it's not designed for high-impact sports. Use a surfboard mount mad a tether.

    Hi

My bought the GoPro Hero3 bundle. There is a problem with the suction cup mount- the extended arm is missing a silver bolt, which means I cannot secure the GoPro with the provided screw. What do I do to get a replacement?

  59. Daniel Hawash April 20, 2014 at 5:55 am

can u use it on roller coaster under the speed of 150 miles per hour

  60. Jeremy Toledo May 27, 2014 at 3:02 am

thanks. going to costa rica this december. obviously i would need a surfboard mount. but i can't really take that thing on or off very quickly could i? i think i might just have to go with the floating handle… cheers.

  61. Vincent B. July 17, 2014 at 12:50 pm

+882MTBMX very stupid comment. Those just make sure that it doesn't slide away. If you actually try, you can see that you can rotate and angle it

this is not the same as the go pro suction cup mount I just bought at best buy… Mine has the clip attachment so you dont need to use the pivot point to take the camera off.

  93. Sebastian Valencia August 26, 2018 at 11:28 pm

bought this camera 1 week ago. Really like this camera. Last year i bought the hero5. There is at least for me a huge difference. It's worth to upgrade from hero 5 to hero6 >>>ur2.pl/683    I use a Sandisk 64GB extreme memory card. (you have to use a good sd-card) Everything works smoothly and fine. No Errors or bugs at all with the 1.5.0 software. I did not upgrade the firmware. I use this camera for little (5-15 minutes) videos. Works perfectly well.

  94. Biker Saif November 15, 2018 at 8:21 am

Only use it on glass surface otherwise you are gonna loose your go pro

  95. Kyle Casey May 3, 2019 at 1:49 am

Watching this so my GoPro won't fly off my car

  96. P B May 7, 2019 at 5:31 pm

To anyone who's gopro fell off under 150 mph, roflmao, you don't deserve a device like that, It's without a doubt 100% user error! Learn how to follow instructions! SMOOTH and CLEAN surface It's called "common sense" (Besides the fact that you should have tethered the product)

  97. GoodMan Pictures May 16, 2019 at 11:31 pm

Hi. Will it stick on car dashboard too?
