How To SUPER CLEAN Your Car Windshield

welcome back to Stauffer garage guys today I’m going to show you how to super clean your windows to make them crystal clear day or night and increase the visibility improve the safety of your driving here is the before and after of the windshield you can see a noticeable difference in the beating and the shooting of water off the windshield it is truly a night and day difference guys and this is an easy process to get your windows crystal clear today you are going to need several items here I have listed you’re gonna have to pick up your favorite glass cleaner for me I like invisible glass it is super easy to use but any other glass cleaner will use preferably ammonia free the second product you’ll need is a carnauba based car wax third product is a clay bar fourth product is going to be a spray bottle with some warm water and then most of all you will need several microfiber towels that are clean or unused so guys this is my newer car it has about thirty thousand miles on it so it doesn’t have a ton of wear and tear but you can visibly see the dirt on the windshield and that sheeting is horrible but I also have road grime and debris and everything else from just driving on the highway all right so the first step is grab your favorite glass cleaner in a clean microfiber towel and go ahead and spray your entire windshield with the cleaner I usually spread it up in half and half just because my arms aren’t Inspector Gadget mine is a foaming type which I prefer just because it actually makes it really easy to see how much product you have in a specific area and wipe off any of the grime on your windshield this first step is more or less just a quick easy way to get the larger dirt and debris off your windshield Before we jump to the next step [Music] this next step is actually something you might not even think of using on your windshield but I have my warm water in my clay bar so you want to pull off a piece of your clay bar that is brand new meet it up a little bit to make it more pliable and then flatten out so that way you can rub it across your windshield so go ahead and spray some in that warm water across the windshield as a lubricant for your clay bar and start sliding the clay bar back and forth across it and feeling for any high spots it also removes any of the grease and debris on the windshield you’re kind of looking for any of those areas where the clay bar gets hung up and if it starts getting hung up on your glass that is an area where you need to work it just like you would on your paint with a clay bar and to remove any of the grime or any of the dirt or grease that is kind of baked on to the windshield it’s hard to see from this angle but there is quite a bit of discoloration especially on the edges of this clay bar but like I said in my car is fairly new I try to keep the windshield fairly clean but if you have a car with a lot more miles and you haven’t done this before you guys are gonna probably pick up a lot more debris and a lot more dirt than you would ever expect so grab a clean microfiber towel clean up the excess water and any of the dirt they might be sitting on the surface you can see the amount of dirt that I just picked up for the clay bar process once we’re done cleaning the entire windshield grab your glass cleaner again and spray it on your windshield and clean the glass one more time before our final step as this process goes along you should notice that your towel has less and less of dirt on the surface because you are essentially removing all of the contaminants that are sitting on the top of the glass so now that you’ve cleaned your glass the last time it is time for the final step so today I’m using a butter wet wax from Chemical Guys it’s just a carnauba paste wax you can use any type of carnauba wax that you guys prefer this is just the product I’m using but make sure you shake up your product well if it’s a liquid based but if it is also a paste base just grab your applicator or your microfiber towel in this case which is what I’m using and apply a small amount of product to your towel and begin doing small circular motions on the glass to apply the product I think some people would be surprised that when you apply a wax on your windshield or rain-x or anything it’s the same process as if you did it on your paint itself so with the carnauba wax just make sure you hit every single spot do small circular motions in an area and apply it across the entire windshield once you have it all applied essentially we’re gonna wait for it to dry to get to that chalky haze that a lot of carnauba wax is get to when they dry out and then you’re just gonna take a clean microfiber towel and buff off all of the wax on your windshield just like you would on your paint one thing that you can do while your wax is kind of drying if you will clean off your wiper blades because your wiper blades are a dirt catcher as well when you think about it they are essentially scraping the dirt and grime on your windshield as you’re using your wipers so take a clean microfiber towel with some glass cleaner and clean the wiper blade itself and look at how much dirt I have actually pulled from them it’s insane when you think about it so now grab a clean microfiber towel and start cleaning off the wax off your windshield circular motions at first and then flip over your microfiber towel and do up and down motions at the direction of airflow across your windshield [Music] now it is time to put this process to the test check out that beating it is truly amazing to see the water sheets off completely from the windshield I’m super excited to drive around now at night especially in the rain it’s not it’s gonna be a huge difference so guys thank you so I did this process once previously but when I used the windshield wipers in the rain, there was a haze on the window while I was using the wipers. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

You should try the original rain-x (not the cleaner rain-x) does the same job 1/4 of the time

  12. Vacuum Wars June 27, 2018 at 1:37 am

Stauffer Garage, I am doing a poll of auto detailing experts asking what their favorite vacuum for auto detailing is and why.
If you do give an answer I would mention and link your channel in the video with the results of the poll.
    Great videos btw!!

Your videos are really good but I’m also liking the fact that you’re hot hehe

Can I use VIM cream cleaner as many use VIM to clean stove glass top without any scratches?? I believe auto windshield is also glass based so it should work. If VIM works, it will be so much faster and I think the result would be amazing too.

Would the bar and wax work for glass showers too? Thanks

Stoner also has the Clean & Repel glass cleaner which does cleaning and coating with water repel material at the same time. However, if the glass is too dirty, your cleaning procedure is super effective. I also recommend using magic eraser to replace the clay bar, it also works very well. For hard to remove water spot, I recommend Mother's water spot remover.

So, I have a question…I have a bumper sticker(from my kids school) on my back window that's past its prime. What do you recommend for getting it off?

How long does the beading last? When the wax worn out on the window, do you see smearing?

  24. M. Martin June 20, 2019 at 7:17 pm

What about the inside of the windshield? Do you only use the glass cleaner?

You are one hard working dude, good job on everything I've seen you clean.

Holy crap, my windows look amazing! I keep my car clean, but I don’t spend much time on it. All the detailing products I have are used in my shower. 😳 I’m driving to Texas and I thought I might throw some rainx on, but I saw this video and decided to try it. I am in love with the clay. That was gross, but satisfying. I’m a subscriber now. Thank you.

Hi, I found your channel this morning and can't stop watching. I have a 99 Honda CR-V that I bought used and needs some love so you are giving me TONS of ideas to take care of her. This video is great but I think my windshield is going to need some more heavy duty care. It's 10 years old and just got so many small dings in it. Only one or two bigger chips and no cracks. But I'm wondering what I can do to get rid of the tiny dings in it cause they definitely affect my visibility. Especially when the sun is setting. Any advise??

I use Chemical Guys Pete's 53 wax on my windshield. It lasts much longer than Butter Wet Wax.

  31. Capture Allen July 30, 2019 at 4:11 am

Will be doing this process. I can never get my windshield as clean and clear as I want it, always looks smeared, just not clear enough. Thanks.

  32. Rachel Anders August 11, 2019 at 3:03 am

I was wondering where have you found ypur invisible glass cleaner for the cheapest price? (If online could you share a link? )
    Thank you! 😁

  33. gotham61 August 18, 2019 at 5:03 am

I HATE having wax on the windshield. It makes the wipers skip, smear, and jump as it wears off. I just like to get the glass very clean, using a Mr Clean Magic Eraser with water to remove any bug debris and road grime.
